FALL FISHING

PREVIOUS PAGE

HERE IS SOME METHODS I WILL USE

  • Fall brings everything back that worked in late spring to summer.
  • Trolling will work everywhere. The fish are scattered from deep water to the weeds.
  • Casting the weed edges will start to pick up as the water starts to cool down.
  • Topwater baits can be excellent in the fall, sometimes all day long.
  • Casting over the weeds at night is very productive in early fall with multiple fish nights not uncommon to the die-hards who stay out.
  • Glide baits are now coming back into play.
  • Bucktails are doing their thing again.
  • Dragging suckers is now an option as the water temps start to drop into the lower 60’s. There should be at least one sucker hanging over the side of the boat while casting.
  • As the water starts to get into the 50’s the fishing starts to get really good. They know that its time to fatten up for the winter.
  • Trolling the deep water starts to get overlooked because there is fish moving for the casters. There are some real trophies to be had for the trollers that stick it out.
  • Glide baits are the go to baits now. There is something about the glide bait s that the muskies just can’t resist.
  • Glide baits and a sucker is a deadly combo.
  • Once the water gets into the 40’s you must slow everything down, work the glide baits nice and easy, remember easy meals. This is where the casting is attracting the muskies to the boat and the suckers are doing their thing putting the muskies in the boat.
