FISHING REPORTS

2003 2002

OCTOBER SEPTEMBER AUGUST JULY JUNE MAY

5-28-02

Fishing this past week has been slow, I went up north for the opener so not to much of a Pewaukee Lake report this week. My brother Tom caught a nice 46.25 inch muskie on a undertaker Saturday and a 39 inch was also caught that same day on a undertaker glide bait.

I think with the pleasure boats and all the activity fishing might stay slow for a few more days, this was by far the most activity on the lake so far this year. I am glad I missed it.

The water temperature is 62 to 66 degrees and in a warming trend. This warm up will give fishing a boost, can't wait for the topwater bite to start. I will let you know when things start to heat up, it wont be long now.

5-19-02

The fishing has started to slow, there was a few 40 inch class fish caught this week but they were earned. Water temperatures have not increased much, they range from 51 to 55 degrees.

Wednesday I talked my wife into muskie fishing and we caught a nice 41.5 inch muskie(see photos page)and raised a few others. I had clients that night from 4:00 to 8:00pm,we raised 4 fish ranging from 36 to 41 inches but no fish in the boat for pictures. One fish was after a suick, two after a undertaker and the other chased a bucktail.

The WMT tournament was on Pewaukee Lake Saturday, 28 teams competed and 11 fish were caught. A 43 inch being the largest regestered. The winners boated a 39.5 and 40 inch musky. I wish I could have fished the event but there was a Muskie First Club outing on Oconomowoc Lake that I was in on. My partner Eric VonDerVellen caught a 40.5 inch muskie, we raised 6 fish ranging from 37 to 42 inches.

The glide baits and deep diver slammers were the baits that were hot. Water temperatures there were in the low 50"s. We need some warmer weather!!!

5-13-02

The weather has been cold but the bite stayed warm, there was lots of fish caught this week. The Pewaukee Classic had 17 muskies registered on Saturday. The biggest fish was 43 inches, most fish were in the 36 to 38 range. Fishing during the week was good with little fishing pressure, I fished twice last week and doubled each night.

Wednesday a 37 and 45.5 was caught casting (see picture of 45.5), Friday I tried trolling and put three fish in the boat, a 32 and 35.5 inch muskie with a bonus northern. There has been a lot of 40-inch plus fish caught and released this year already, I know of 12 fish personally.

Tonight 5/13 was a little slow but managed to troll up a 33-inch muskie before dark. Conditions can only get better and fishing is going to be great when it does.

Will try to post each week and let you know what is hot, so far its got to be glide baits (undertakers) with twitch baits (slammers) coming close second. GOOD LUCK !!!

5-5-02

Opening day was a good all around day. The muskies were moving and some were even boated for pictures. My boat was no exception; my brother Greg and I put a nice 40.5-inch muskie in the boat along with a 19.5-inch small mouth and a 28-inch northern before the day was over.

The majority of the fish that were caught were in the 34 to 44inch range. The lures of choice were glide baits and twitch baits.

Water temperature is in the mid 50’s. The weed growth is a little behind this year. The key to good fishing is going to be the new weed growth.
