Water temps are rising quickly with this recent heat wave and the fish are already
starting to move off the weed lines and starting to suspend.
Wednesday I went out casting after work and scored a 37.75 on a suick off a weedline and then trolled up a 39.5 at dark on a believer. Friday I got out around 4:20pm and stuck a 35 incher on the third cast in the river channel on the east end of Pewaukee lake, casted topwater for the rest of the evening with only one follow. The weekends have been very buisy on Pewaukee Lake with the pleasure boaters and sail boats, try to fish early and late in the day for your best results. Thursday I guided for a full day and raised 10 fish, 5 of them being in the 40's but no takers. The hot baits were bucktails and a suick. Sunday around 7:00pm I put in and trolled until 11:00pm and caught a 37.75 on a depth raider and lost a low 40's on a perch believer reaching for the net while fishing without a partner. The fishing has been good and will continue to be hot until the water temps get to high and then the night fishing is going to get real good. If you haven't tried the night bite this is a good time to start, think about it no crowds and no noise, what a peace full time to be on the water and the fish seem to be a little easier to catch. The follow to catch ratio is more in your favor with most fish that follow being caught or at least 1 of 2 ratio on follows. Get in on some of the exciting night action this month or in on the trolling bite before it gets to crowded out there. Good luck!!! |

Fishing is starting to heat up!! There was a lot of good sized fish caught this week.
There was a 44 incher taken on a bucktail, a 38 incher taken on a 7 inch Slammer deep
diver, a 34 incher taken on a red bladed bucktail, a 36 incher taken on a 7 inch golden
shiner Slammer, a 48.5 inch fatty taken on a suick, a 41 inch taken on a spinner bait,
a 40 inch taken on a funky chicken and a 40.5 taken on a suick. The 48.5, 38 and 36
were fish that I caught this week.
The outlook is looking great for this week with some storms early in the week and stable conditions to follow. Don't miss out on the great fishing that is coming up. The top water bite has not got going yet but the bucktail bite has really heated up in the last few days. Pull baits have got the most action from the bigger fish this week, this is because of all the panfish that are being caught and released with some hurt put on them, there is no easier target for muskies than a hurt panfish or "injured bait". This is why I toss pull baits at this time of the year. Get out there and get into some of the action, I will post some more pictures on MY PHOTOS page when I get them. Good Luck. |

Musky fishing is starting to pick up along with the water temperatures. There has been
a few
muskies caught this week.
Tonight I guided for walleyes and watched a bluegill that we released get smacked at boat side by a musky, would have been nice to have a top water to toss but thats the way it goes. Talked to a few of my friends at the launch tonight and they all reported active fish and a 38 inch was caught by a client. I was out Saturday night to check out my night patterns and I am pleased to say that a 37 1/4 inch muskie was in my landing net within the first hour of fishing. The top water bite is starting to pick up and the bucktail bite is on. Muskie fishing is starting to get good with lots of patterns working. The bluegills are spawning and the walleyes are very active on the weedlines with both large and smallmouth bass also very active. Don't miss out on some of the best fishing so far this year on Pewaukee Lake. Good Luck!!! |

There has not been a lot of fish caught this week or weekend, I had a client catch his
first muskie on a half day afternoon outing on Thursday. The cold front that came
crashing in on Saturday afternoon shut the fish down. I talked to most of the boys
this weekend and there was little to no muskie activity to speak of.
I didn't fish muskies Saturday morning and that should have been good, I went down to Lake Michigan for some therapy. Mark and I boated 8 nice fish ranging from smaller chinooks, a 10 lb lake trout and 4 kings 15 to 17 lbs. We lost quite a few also, not bad for 6 hours on the big pond. It sure would be nice to have some stable weather for a while just to get things back to normal. The weed growth is starting to get better and when the water temperatures start to rise again things are going to start rockin. Keep a positive attitude and good luck!!! |
